15 ENGLISHOPERATIONCAUTION: Do not pull out the handle polefrom the appliance during operation. Doing so losecontrol of the appliance and may result serious injury.CAUTION: Do not put your hand or leg underthe appliance during operation. Otherwise pinchingaccident may occur.Normal cleaning operation1. Hold the handle, and then unlock the uprightposition.2. Turn on the appliance. Clean a floor.► Fig.22Using the side brushThe side brush is convenient for cleaning the corner ofa wall.If the side brush gets short, take the appliance to theMakita service center for replacement► Fig.23: 1. Side brushOperation with accessoriesCAUTION: Keep holding the handle whenusing accessories. Otherwise the appliance mayaccidentally fall and cause injury.NOTICE: When using accessories, lock theappliance in upright position. Otherwise the rota-tion of the brushroll may damage the floor.Using the aluminum pipeThe aluminum pipe is suitable for cleaning tight quar-ters, or high places.► Fig.24: 1. Aluminum pipeUsing the hoseThe hose is suitable for cleaning near your hands.► Fig.25: 1. HoseTo use the hose, pull out the aluminum pipe from thehose while pushing the lever.To install the hose, insert the hose into the aluminumpipe until it clicks.► Fig.26: 1. LeverUsing the attachments► Fig.27To install the attachment, twist and insert it securely tothe aluminum pipe or the hose. To disconnect, twist andremove it.MAINTENANCECAUTION: Always be sure that the appli-ance is switched off and the battery cartridge isremoved before attempting to perform inspectionor maintenance.NOTICE: Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner,alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation orcracks may result.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY,repairs, any other maintenance or adjustment shouldbe performed by Makita Authorized or Factory ServiceCenters, always using Makita replacement parts.StorageWhen storing, remove the battery cartridges and storethe appliance on level place in upright position.► Fig.28Cleaning the appliance bodyFrom time to time wipe off the outside (cleaner body) ofthe cleaner using a cloth dampened in soapy water.► Fig.29Cleaning the HEPA filterCAUTION: Do not use the cleaner without afilter or continue to use dirty or damaged filter.Vacuumed dust or particles may be exhaustedfrom the cleaner and they may cause respiratorydisease to the operator.NOTICE: To keep optimum suction power andclean exhaust, clean the filter periodically. Ifenough suction power is not obtained even afterthe cleaning, replace the filter with new one.NOTICE: To prevent the filter from being dam-aged, do not use following tools and similar itemsfor cleaning :— Air duster— High pressure washer— Tools made of hard materials such as ametallic brush1. Open the dust box cover and take out the filterbag.Release the hooks on the filter and remove it from theappliance body.► Fig.30: 1. Hook2. Beat the dust off from the filter. The filter can bewashed with water. Rinse away the dust and particleson the filter every 1 or 2 month. After that, dry the filtercompletely in a shaded and well-ventilated place toprevent unpleasant odor or malfunctions.3. To install the filter, insert the side without thehooks into the groove then push in the filter until thehooks are secured with a click.► Fig.31: 1. Groove 2. HEPA filter 3. Hook |
