24 ENGLISHSwitching the battery cartridge► Fig.18: 1. Battery selection switchThe machine uses 2 battery cartridges for operationat a time. Up to 4 battery cartridges can be installedto the machine. Before operating the machine, selectthe battery cartridges used for operation by turning thebattery selection switch.NOTICE: If the battery cartridge is in the follow-ing condition, the machine does not work even ifyou switch the battery with the battery selectionswitch.• The remaining capacity of at least one of thebattery cartridges is empty.• At least one of the battery cartridges isoverheated.In this case, remove the empty or overheatedbattery cartridge, or replace the battery cartridgewith a charged one.NOTE: If only 2 battery cartridges are installed to themachine, be sure to select the installed battery car-tridges with the battery selection switch.Control panelCAUTION: Always lock the brake lever andturn off the machine when not in use.Power button► Fig.19: 1. Main power lamp 2. Power buttonTo turn on the machine, lock the brake lever, and thenpress the power button without pulling the switch trig-ger. The main power lamp lights up in green. To turnoff the machine, release the switch trigger and lock thebrake lever, and then press the power button.NOTE: An electrical test is performed the first timethe machine is driven after the machine is turned on.If a problem is detected, the main power lamp blinksin red or green alternately. In this case, refer to thesection for troubleshooting.NOTE: If the main power lamp lights up in red orblinks in red or green, refer to the instructions formachine/battery protection system or the section fortroubleshooting.NOTE: This machine employs the auto power-offfunction. To avoid unintentional start up, the machinewill automatically shut down when the machine isstopped and not operated for a certain period afterthe machine is turned on.NOTE: If you press the power button while pulling theswitch trigger, the machine does not turn on. Releasethe switch trigger, and then press the power button.Forward/reverse and speed button► Fig.20: 1. Forward/reverse button 2. Speed indica-tor 3. Speed buttonPress the forward/reverse button to switch between theforward mode and reverse mode. Press the speed but-ton to switch between low speed, medium speed, andhigh speed. When the power is turned on, the forwardmode and low speed are set.NOTE: The forward/reverse button is not availablewhile pulling the switch trigger.NOTE: A short beep sound comes out when operat-ing the machine in reverse.NOTE: The speed button is not available when oper-ating the machine in reverse.NOTE: If the machine detects a problem, the speedindicators blink alternately. In this case, refer to thesection for troubleshooting.Beep buttonWhen you press the beep button, the beep sound isemitted.► Fig.21: 1. Beep buttonNOTE: The beep button is available when themachine is turned on.NOTE: The beep button is available even if the lockkey is not inserted in the battery box.Lighting up the lampsPress the lamp button on the battery box to light up thefront lamps and rear lamp. To turn off the lamps, pressthe lamp button again.► Fig.22: 1. Lamp button 2. Front lamp► Fig.23: 1. Rear lampNOTE: The lamps go off if the machine is not oper-ated for a certain period.NOTE: The lamps go off when the power is turned off.NOTE: You can light up the lamps even if the lock keyis not inserted.Switch trigger and brake leverCAUTION: Before installing the battery car-tridge into the machine, always check to see thatthe switch trigger actuates properly and returnsto the "OFF" position when released.To start the machine, pull the switch trigger. Using theswitch trigger, the speed can be adjusted within the setspeed range. To stop the machine, release the switchtrigger and pull the brake lever.To lock the brake lever, pull and hold the brake lever,then pull the lock lever, and then release the brake leverwhile pulling the lock lever.
