13Electrical InformationCaution: Risk of electrical shock.Read and follow all instructions.Important Safety InstructionsAll electrical connections to this spa packageMUST be accomplished by a qualified licensedelectrician in accordance with the NationalElectrical Code (NEC) and with state/localelectrical codes in effect at the time of installation. To make spa electrical connections, remove theexterior equipment access panel, locate the electricalcontrol box, remove the control box cover and followthe wiring diagram on the inside of the control boxcover.Connections should be made using copperconductors only. Connecting wires, circuit breakers,or fuses must all be sized to accommodate the TotalAmpere load as specified on the equipment label. This equipment is designed to operate on60Hz alternating current only, at 240 volts.NOTE: All unions must be hand-tight and allslice valves must be locked in the OPEN positionbefore filling or refilling spa! A clip is provided tohelp keep the slice valve open. Run spa and check forunion water leaks before reinstalling front panel.Ground-Fault Circuit InterrupterA qualified licensed electrician shall connectthe spa to a circuit protected by a GFCI. This is arequirement by the National Electric Code, article 680-42, and is also in compliance with Underwriter’sLaboratories, Inc.Installation OptionsKnockouts are provided in the cabinet base tobring the conduit to the equipment compartment. If analternate electrical service entrance is desired, anadditional hole may need to be drilled.Certain models might be built for a 120 voltsconnection only. All other models can only beconnected to a 240 volts electrical service.120 Volt InstallationElectrical Requirments :•120 Volts, 60 Hz, Single Phase, 40 amp. or 20 amp,3-wires service, (incliding ground.)Note: The heater can be activated only with thepump on low speed. Only the spa light can beoperating at the same time without disabling theheater. See your authorized dealer to select thisoption.Elite Spas installed for 240 volt operation requirea 3-wire, 40 amp., 120 volt sub-feed in non-metallicpipe to the spa equipment compartment (line 1,neutral, and ground). All connections must be done accordingly to theCSA International regulation (Canadian StandardAdministration).A green colored terminal (or wire connectormarked “G”, or “GR”, “Grounding”) is provided in thecontrol box. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, connect this terminal or connector to the groundingterminal of your electrical service or supply panel witha continuous green insulated copper wire equivalent tothe circuit conductor supplying this equipment, but nosmaller than No. 12 AWG. In addition, a secondpressure wire connector is provided on the surface ofthe control box for bonding to local ground points. Toreduce the risk of electrical shock, this connectorshould be bonded with a No. 6 AWG copper wire toany metal ladders, water pipes, or any metal within 5feet of the spa.• Copper wire is recommended for all electricalconnections.
