Keysight M9506A AXIe Chassis Startup Guide 13Step 3: Power-Up and Power-DownTo Power Up the Chassis1. Plug-In Chassis Using the supplied cord, connect the chassis to anappropriate AC power main. Use with a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) isnot recommended.2. Close Circuit Breaker Close the rear panel circuit breaker (ON position).Press On/Standby Button Press the ESM’s ON/STANDBY switch. It shouldlight when depressedThe STATUS light in the ESM’s ON/STANDBY switch cycles as follows:Status Color Flash Rate Chassis PowerStateDescriptionOff Off Chassis is powered offRED1 flash every 5 seconds Off Fault - PSU Over Temperature2 flashes every 5 seconds Off Other PSU fault3 flashes every 5 seconds Off ESM/Chassis Power Fault4 flashes every 5 seconds Off ESM/Chassis Over Temperature FaultSolid (no flashes) On Unrecoverable alertGREEN1 second on, 1 second off On Chassis is powered on but not ready for enumerationor self test error0.5 second on, 0.5 second off On Power button has been pushed and chassis isshutting downSolid (no flashes) On Chassis is powered on and ready for enumerationThe chassis and host PC must be powered up and down in the followingsequence. The chassis should be powered up first, which will initiate its built-inSelf-Test. During Self-Test, the chassis STATUS LED will be blinking green(1 s on, 1 s off). The STATUS LED will blink green and then stay greencontinuously when the ESM is ready. The ESM then powers up each moduleslot. The remote host PC should be turned on only after all installed moduleshave performed their initialization—see your module documentation forinitialization information. An embedded controller such as the M9537A handlesthis sequence automatically.The method of powering up the chassis depends on the position of the INHIBITswitch on the chassis rear panel, which can be set to the DEF (DEFault) positionor to the MAN (MANual) position. Refer to the M9506A User’s Guide for moreinformation.
