Engage parkingbrake.• Lower mower to its lowest position.• Disengage belt tention rod from lock bracket.CAUTION: Rod is spring loaded. Have atight grip on rod and release slowly.• Remove screws from R.H. mandrel cover and removecover.• Remove any dirt or grass clippings which may haveaccumulated around mandrels and entire upper decksurface.• Disconnect R.H. suspension arm from rear deck bracketby removing retainer spring.• Roll belt over the top of R.H. mandrel pulley carefully.• Remove belt from electric clutch pulley.• Remove belt from idler pulleys.• Check primary idler arm and two idlers to see that theyrotate freely.• Be sure spring is securely hooked to primary idler armand spring arm.MOWER DRIVE BELT INSTALLATION (See Fig. 24)• Install belt in both idlers.• Install new belt onto electric clutch pulley.• Roll belt into upper groove of R.H. mandrel pulley care-fully.• Carefully check belt routing making sure belt is in thegrooves correctly.• Reconnect R.H. suspension arm to rear deck bracketwith retainer spring.• Reassemble R.H. mandrel cover.• Engage belt tension rod by pushing rod into lockingbracket.FIG. 23PRIMARYIDLER ARM R.H.MANDRELIDLERPULLEYELEC TRICCLUTCHPULLEYSPRINGARMBELTTENSION ROD(DISENGAGEDPOSITION)RH MAN DRELCOVERRHSUSPENSIONARMIDLERPULLEYTO REPLACE MOWER BLADE (SECONDARY)DRIVE BELT (See Fig. 24)Park the tractor on level surface. Engage parking brake.• Remove mower (See “TO REMOVE MOWER” in thissection of manual).• Remove screws from R.H. and L.H. mandrel coversand remove covers.REMOVE MOWER DRIVE BELT(Refer to “TO REMOVE MOWER DRIVE BELT” illustrationin this section of manual).• Carefully roll belt over the top of R.H. mandrel pulley.• Remove belt from idler pulleys.• Check primary idler arm and two idlers to see that theyrotate freely.• Be sure spring is securely hooked to primary idler armand spring arm.REMOVE MOWER BLADE (SECONDARY) DRIVE BELT• Carefully roll belt off L.H. mandrel pulley.• Remove belt from center mandrel pulley, idler pulley,and R.H. mandrel pulley.• Remove any dirt or grass which may have accumulatedaround mandrels and entire upper deck surface.• Check secondary idler arm and idler pulley to see thatthey rotate freely.• Be sure spring is hooked in secondary idler arm andsecondary spring arm.INSTALL NEW MOWER BLADE (SECONDARY) DRIVEBELT• Install new belt in lower groove of R.H. mandrel pulley,idler pulley, and center mandrel pulley as shown.• Carefully roll belt over L.H. mandrel pulley. Make surebelt is in all grooves properly.REINSTALL MOWER DRIVE BELT(Refer to “TO REMOVE MOWER DRIVE BELT” illustrationin this section of manual).• Install belt into upper groove of R.H. mandrel pulleyand around both idlers. Pull belt to front of mower toremove slack.• Reinstall mandrel covers and securely tighten allscrews.• Carefully check belt routing making sure belt is in allgrooves correctly.• Reinstall mower to tractor (See “TO INSTALL MOWER”in this section of manual).
