MAINTENANCE and LUBRICATION16Before performing any maintenance, ALWAYS parkthe machine on a level surface with the engine “OFF”and the engine switch set in the “OFF” position. Letthe machine cool down! Other maintenance andrepairs should only be carried out by a qualifiedtechnician.Breaking In• After the initial 20 hours of operating, check theengine owner’s manual and change oil.Daily• Check engine oil level.• Check ring guard and belt guard for damage.• Clean machine daily.• Check that the six grease fittings, located on thebottom end, are greased thoroughly with heavyduty waterproof grease.• Check operation of the Centrifugal On/Off SafetySwitch. See ‘Safety Switch’ BelowEvery 50 hours of Operation• Clean spark plug• Clean engine air filter. Service sooner if used industy conditions.Every 100 hours of Operation• Change the engine oilEvery 200 hours of Operation• Replace engine air filter element• Clean fuel filter• Clean and adjust spark plugEvery 500 hours of Operation• Replace spark plug• Remove carbon from cylinder head• Check and adjust valve clearance• Clean and adjust carburetorEvery 1000 hours of Operation• Replace fuel lines• Overhaul engineSafety SwitchWARNING: Never operate power trowel withfaulty or tampered safety switch.• Check operation of the Centrifugal On/OffSafety Switch daily before each use.• Engine must stop when switch is engaged.To Test Operation of Switch:1. Select a wide open area with NO obstacles.2. With the engine idling, turn switch be handfrom the “On” to “Off” position. Engine shouldstop immediately.3. With the engine at low rpm and bladesslightly engaged, let loose of handle bars.Trowel should spin then engine should stopimmediately.CAUTION: Use Low RPM for testing the SafetySwitch so operator can regain control of trowel inthe case that the safety switch fails.
