EXCEL 5000™ System Styled CabinetRings and SubpanelsINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSGENERALThe EXCEL 5000™ System Styled Cabinet is constructedfrom a separately ordered Rough-in Ring, Subpanel and Door.See Fig. 1. The Cabinets are available in two sizes: smallsized and full-sized. These instructions describe how to installthe Ring and Subpanel. See form no. 95-7486, EXCEL5000™ System Styled Cabinet Doors Installation Instructionsto install the Door.Fig. 1. Install the Ring on a vibration-free surface in a clean,dry area.3. Ensure that the location is visible and accessible formaintenance.4. Verify that the Ring is square by making sure the diagonal measurements are equal. If not equal, apply pressure to the corners of the longer diagonal measurementto force the Ring back into the square.NOTES:— Ring must be square so that the Door and latch operateproperly.— Do not install Subpanel, or Door on Ring until afterconstruction has been completed.INSTALLATIONFig. 2 and 3 show Ring dimensions and mounting holelocations. Fig. 4 and 5 show conduit knockout locations andsizes. Rings can be surface or semiflush mounted.Rings may be mounted in both vertical and horizontal clustersand are interconnected through corresponding knockouts (seeFig. 6). Hinges allow doors to fully open even when rings aremounted adjacently.Ensure that the conduit entering the Ring does not permitcondensation drainage into the internal circuitry. Where this isa possibility, bend the conduit and drill a hole at the lowestpoint in the conduit so that water drains out before reachingthe Ring.For wire runs between Rings that are bolted together, removeall necessary (present and future) conduit knockouts beforethe Rings are bolted together and mounted.
