CHAPTER 2: Installation www.gateway.com12Removing StorView from Windows platformsTo remove the software:1 Insert the External Backup CD into your CD drive.2 When autorun automatically starts the Gateway Driver and ApplicationRecovery menu, select the StorView software.3 Click Install. The software locates the existing installation of StorView andautomatically prompts you to remove it.4 Click OK to remove the software. When the software has been removed,a confirmation box opens to confirm the removal of the software.Setup for Linux platformsSystem requirementsThe following are the minimum system requirements to install and use StorViewon Linux:■ A Gateway server with an Intel processor■ 128 MB RAM■ CD drive■ 256-color video adapter (minimum display settings should be 1024 x 768)■ Operating systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES (RHEL 3 & 4) or SuSE ®Linux Enterprise Server 8 and 9.■ Web browser software that is HTTP 1.1 compliant and supports JavaScript1.3, such as, Mozilla (1.1 or greater) or Konqueror (3.1 or greater)■ 100 MB hard drive space■ Network adapter■ Gateway E-842R Series storage systemInstalling on LinuxTo install on Linux:1 Log in as root.2 Insert the Gateway External Backup CD into your CD drive.3 Change directories to the software location by typingcd[CDROM mount point path]/software/storview/linux4 Execute the StorView Installer.
