82 Maintaining and Troubleshooting the Gateway ALR 7200 ServerSystem ProblemsThe system will not start up.The keyboard doesn’t work.Probable Cause SolutionThe system is notconnected to an ACoutlet.Check the power cable(s) and make certain itis connected to an AC power source.Voltage selection switchnot set correctly.Make certain the voltage selection switchreflects the correct power source.One power supply is notsupplying power to theload share module.Verify both power cords are plugged intoworking AC outlets. Verify both power cordsare fully plugged into their AC-IN connectorson rear of computer. Verify both powersupplies are set to the correct voltage range(115-V AC or 230-V AC). Verify both powersupplies are turned on. Replace defectivepower supply.Probable Cause SolutionA key was depressedwhile the system wasstarting up.Clear the sticking key, then turn off thesystem, wait for a few seconds, and then turnthe system back on.The keyboard is notplugged in or connectedproperly.Check the cable. Make certain it is plugged incorrectly.Something spilled intothe keyboard.Turn off the system. Turn the keyboard upsidedown to let it dry before turning the systemback on.The keyboard isdefective.Try a keyboard you know is working.
