40 Fishfinder 340C Owner’s ManualusIng the fIshfInder 340c > MArkIng A WAyPoIntMarking a WaypointYou can use Pointer mode to move a cursor around on the pausedSonar Page to reference sonar items and mark waypoints forthat location (if your Fishfinder is attached to a Garmin GPS orcompatible NMEA navigation device; see page 16). When youuse Pointer mode, a data field appears at the top of the graph withthe cursor’s depth, surface temperature for that location, and GPScoordinates (if available). This makes it easy to save the location ofan underwater object (such as a stump, rock, or brush pile), whichyou can navigate back to with your GPS receiver.To enable NMEA input/output:1. Press and hold ADJ/MENU. The Main Menu appears.2. Use the ROCKER to select the System tab.3. Use the ROCKER to select the NMEA Input/Output field.Press ENTER.4. Use the ROCKER to select On. Press ENTER. On appearsin the field.5. Press QUIT to return to the previous page.To start or stop Pointer mode on a Sonar Page:1. From a Sonar Page, hold PAUSE for two seconds. TheFishfinder is now in Pointer mode.2. Use the ROCKER to move the cursor around on the screen.Information about the Pointer location appears on thescreen.3. Press QUIT to resume normal scrolling.
