Fishfinder 340C Owner’s Manual 41U SING THE FISHFINDER 340C > PAUSING A SONAR OR FLASHER PAGE AND MARKING A WAYPOINTPausing a Sonar or Flasher PageUse a paused screen to take a better look at sonar returns. Thedepth continues to update while the page is paused, but theFishfinder does not show any new sonar data until the Sonar Pageresumes scrolling. You might see a discontinuity from where thesonar information stops to where it starts again when you resumescrolling the screen.To pause and unpause the Sonar or Flasher Page:From the Sonar or Flasher Page, press PAUSE to stop thescrolling. Press PAUSE again (or QUIT) to resume scrolling.Marking a WaypointYou can use Pointer mode to move a cursor around on the pausedSonar Page to reference sonar items and mark waypoints forthat location (if your Fishfinder is attached to a Garmin GPS orcompatible NMEA navigation device; see page 17). When youuse Pointer mode, a data field appears at the top of the graph withthe cursor’s depth, surface temperature for that location, and GPScoordinates (if available). This makes it easy to save the location ofan underwater object (such as a stump, rock, or brush pile), whichyou can navigate back to with your GPS receiver.To enable NMEA input/output:1. Press and hold ADJ/MENU. The Main Menu appears.2. Use the Rocker to select the System tab.3. Use the Rocker to select the NMEA Input/Output field.Press ENTER.4. Use the Rocker to select On. Press ENTER. On appears inthe field.5. Press QUIT to return to the previous page.
