Garmin Live ServicesBefore you can use Garmin Live Services, your device must beconnected to a supported phone running Smartphone Link(Pairing with Your Phone and Connecting to Smartphone Link,page 12).Connecting to Smartphone Link provides access to Garmin LiveServices. Garmin Live Services provides free and subscription-based plans to view live data on your device, such as trafficconditions and weather.Some services, like weather, are available as separate apps onyour device. Other services, like traffic, enhance the existingnavigation features on your device. Features that require accessto Garmin Live Services display the Smartphone Link symboland appear only when the device is connected to SmartphoneLink.Subscribing to Garmin Live ServicesBefore you can subscribe to Garmin Live Services, you mustinstall the Smartphone Link app on your phone.1 Start the Smartphone Link app on your phone (Pairing withYour Phone and Connecting to Smartphone Link, page 12).2 Select My Account.A list of services and subscription prices appears.3 Select a service.4 Select the price.5 Select Subscribe.6 Follow the on-screen instructions.Smart NotificationsWhile your device is connected to the Smartphone Link app, youcan view notifications from your smartphone on your GarminDriveSmart device, such as text messages, incoming calls, andcalendar appointments.NOTE: You may need to wait a few minutes to receivenotifications on your navigation device after it connects to theSmartphone Link app. appears colored in the Bluetoothsettings when smart notifications are connected and active(Bluetooth Feature Status Icons, page 12).Receiving NotificationsNOTICEDo not read or reply to notifications while driving.Before your Garmin DriveSmart device can receive notifications,you must connect it to your smartphone and to the SmartphoneLink app.From most pages, a popup appears when the device receives anotification from your smartphone. Whileconnected, you can place or receive calls using your device.Placing a CallDialing a Number1 Select Apps > Phone > Dial.2 Enter the number.3 Select Dial.Calling a Contact in Your Phone BookYour phone book is loaded from your phone to the device eachtime your phone and the device connect.
