Map updates are large and maytake several hours to complete.Software updates provide changes and improvements to thedevice features and operation. Software updates are small andtake a few minutes to complete.You can update your device using two methods.• You can connect the device to a Wi‑Fi network to updatedirectly on the device (recommended). This option allows youto update your device conveniently without connecting it to acomputer.• You can connect the device to a computer and update itusing the Garmin Express application (garmin.com/express).This option allows you to install map data onto a memorycard if the updated maps are too large to fit on the internalstorage.Connecting to a Wi‑Fi NetworkThe first time you turn on the device, it prompts you to connectto a Wi‑Fi network and register your device.
