INSTALLATION SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSImproper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenance can cause injury orproperty damage. Refer to this manual. For assistance or additional information, consulta qualified installer, service agency, manufacturer (dealer) or the gas supplier.Never reuse old flexible connectors. The useof old flexible connectors can cause gas leaksand personal injury. Always use NEW flexibleconnectors when installing a gas appliance.IMPORTANT: Remove all packing material andliterature from oven before connecting gasand electrical supply to range.■ Have your range installed by a qualifiedinstaller.■ Your range must be electrically groundedin accordance with local codes or, in theabsence of local codes, in accordance with theNational Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70, latestedition).■ Before installing your range on linoleumor any other synthetic floor covering, makesure the floor covering can withstand 180°Fwithout shrinking, warping or discoloring. Donot install the range over carpeting unless asheet of 1/4″ thick plywood or similar insulatoris placed between the range and carpeting.■ Make sure the wall coverings around therange can withstand heat generated bythe range up to 200°F.■ Avoid placing cabinets above the range. Toreduce the hazard caused by reaching overthe open flames of operating burners, install aventilation hood over the range that projectsforward at least 5″ beyond the front of thecabinets.■ The ventilating hood must be constructedof sheet metal not less than 0.0122″ thick.Install above the cooktop with a clearance ofnot less than 1/4″ between the hood and theunderside of the combustible material or metalcabinet. The hood must be at least as wideas the appliance and centered over theappliance. Clearance between the cookingsurface and the ventilation hood surfaceMUST NEVER BE LESS THAN 24 INCHES.EXCEPTION: Installation of a listed microwaveoven or cooking appliance over the cooktop shallconform to the installation instructions packedwith that appliance.■ If cabinets are placed above the range,allow a minimum clearance of 30″ betweenthe cooking surface and the bottom ofunprotected cabinets.■ If a 30″ clearance between cooking surfaceand overhead combustible material or metalcabinets cannot be maintained, protect theunderside of the cabinets above the cooktopwith not less than 1/4″ insulating millboardcovered with sheet metal not less than 0.0122″thick.■ Clearance between the cooking surfaceand protected cabinets MUST NEVER BELESS THAN 24 INCHES. The vertical distancefrom the plane of the cooking surface tothe bottom of adjacent overhead cabinetsextending closer than 1″ to the plane ofthe range sides must not be less than 18″.(See the Dimensions and Clearancesillustration in this section.)CAUTION: Items of interest tochildren should not be stored in cabinetsabove a range or on the backsplash of arange—children climbing on the range toreach items could be seriously injured.
