IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS6MICROWAVE-SAFE COOKWAREDo not operate the oven in the microwave mode without the turntable and theturntable support seated and in place. The turntable must be unrestricted so itcan rotate. Make sure all cookware used in your microwave oven is suitable formicrowaving. Most glass casseroles, cooking dishes, measuring cups, custard cups, pottery or china dinnerware which does not have metallic trim or glaze with ametallic sheen can be used. Some cookware is labeled “suitable for microwaving.” If you are not sure ifa dish ismicrowave-safe,use this test: Placein the oven both thedish you are testingand a glassmeasuring cup filledwith 1 cup (240 mL)of water―set the measuring cup either in ornext to the dish. Microwave 30–45 secondsat high. if the dish heats, it should not beused for microwaving. If the dish remains cool and only the water inthe cup heats, then the dish is microwave-safe. Oversized food or oversized metal cookwareshould not be used in a microwave/convection oven because they increase therisk of electric shock and could cause a fire. Sometimes the oven floor, turntable and wallscan become too hot to touch. Be carefultouching the floor, turntable and walls duringand after cooking. If you use a meat thermometer whilemicrowaving, make sure it is safe for use inmicrowave ovens. Do not use recycled paper products. Recycledpaper towels, napkins and waxed paper cancontain metal flecks which may cause arcingor ignite. Paper products containing nylon ornylon filaments should be avoided, as theymay also ignite. Some foam trays (like those that meat ispackaged on) have a thin strip of metalembedded in the bottom. When microwaved, the metal can burn the floor of the oven orignite a paper towel. Do not use your microwave oven to drynewspapers. not all plastic wrap is suitable for use inmicrowave ovens. Check the package forproper use. Paper towels, waxed paper and plastic wrapcan be used to cover dishes in order toretain moisture and prevent spattering whilemicrowaving. Be sure to vent plastic wrap sosteam can escape. Cookware may become hot because of heattransferred from the heated food. Pot holdersmay be needed to handle the cookware. When microwaving “boilable” cookingpouches and tightly closed plastic bags, theyshould be slit, pierced or vented as directedby package. If they are not, plastic couldburst during or immediately after cooking, possibly resulting in injury. also, plasticstorage containers should be at least partiallyuncovered because they form a tight seal. When cooking with containers tightly coveredwith plastic wrap, remove covering carefullyand direct steam away from hands and face. How to test for amicrowave-safe dish.
