The electrode of the spark igniter isexposed when the burner head isremoved. When one burner is turnedtoLITE, all the burners spark. Do notattempt to disassemble or cleanaround any burner while anotherburner is on. An electric shock mayresult, which could cause you to knockover hot cookware.Burner HeadsFor proper ignition, make sure thesmall hole in the section that fits over theelectrode is kept open. A sewing needle orwire twist-tie works well to unclog it.The slits in the burner heads of your range must bekept clean at all times for an even, unhamperedflame.You should clean the surface burnersroutinely, especially after bad spillovers,which could clog these openings.To remove burned-on food, soak theburner heads in a solution of mild liquiddetergent and hot water for 20-30 minutes.For more stubborn stains, use a toothbrush.Before putting the burner head back, shakeout excess water and then dry it thoroughlyby setting it in a warm oven for 30 minutes.Replace the burner heads and caps. Makesure that the heads and caps are replaced inthe correct location. There are 2 large, onemedium and one small head and cap.NOTE: Before removing the burner heads andcaps, remember their size and location. Replacethem in the same location after cleaning.Burner CapsLift off when cool. Wash burner caps inhot, soapy water and rinse with clean water.You may scour with a plastic scouring padto remove burned-on food particles.Dry them in a warm oven or with a cloth—don’t reassemble them wet. Replace theburner caps.Make sure that caps are replaced on thecorrect size burner.
