Follow these directionscarefully in caring for your range toassure safe and proper maintenance.FinishesThe porcelain enamel finish issturdy but breakable if misused.This finish is acid-resistant.However, any acid foods spilled(such as fruit juices, tomato orvinegar) should not be permittedto remain on the finish.Lamp Replacement(Model JAS03M)CAUTION: Before replacingyour oven lamp bulb, disconnectthe electric power for your rangeat the main fuse or circuitbreaker panel. Be sure to letthe bulb cool completely beforeremoving or replacing it.l Replace bulb with 40-watt homeappliance bulb.l Connect electric power to range.Plug-In Surface UnitsClean the area under the drip pansofien. Built-up soil, especiallygrease, may catch fire. To makecleaning easier, plug-in units areremovable.Caution: Be sure all controls areturned to OFF and surface unitsare cool before attempting toremove them.After removing the plug-in units,remove the drip pans under theunits and clean them according todirections in the Cleaning Guide onpage 19. Wipe around the edges ofthe surface unit openings. Clean thearea below the units. Rinse allwashed areas with a damp cloth orsponge.Plug-in units can be removed.//&!!!!!!*Lift a plug-in unit about 1“ abovethe drip pan—just enough to graspit—and you can pull it out.Do not lift a plug-in unit morethan 1!’ If you do, it may not lieflat on the drip pan when youplug it back in.Repeated lifting of the plug-inunit more than 1“ above the drippan can permanently damage thereceptacle.ReceptacleDrip Pan/RingTo replace a plug-in unit:l First place the drip pan into thesurface unit cavity found on top ofthe cooktop so the unit receptaclecan be seen through the opening inthe pan.l Insert the terminals of the plug-inunit through the opening in the drippan and into the receptacle.l Guide the surface unit into placeso it fits evenly into the drip pan.CAUTION. Do not attempt to clean plug-insurface units in an automaticdishwasher.l Do not immerse plug-in surfaceunits in liquids of any kind.l Do not bend the plug-in surfaceunit plug terminals.l Do not attempt to clean, adjust orin any way repair the plug-inreceptacle.Adjusting Oven ThermostatUse the time given on a recipewhen cooking the first time. Oventhermostats, in time, may “drift”from the factory setting anddifferences in timing between anold and a new oven of 5 to 10minutes are not unusual. If you findthat your foods consistently browntoo little or too much, you maymake a simple adjustment in thethermostat (Oven Temp) knob.Pull the knob off the shaft, lookat the back of the knob and notethe current setting before makingany adjustment. The knob isfactory set with the top screwdirectly under the pointer.To adjust the thermostat:1. Pull off the knob.2. Loosen both screws on backof the knob.3. Hold both parts of the knoband turn so the top screw moves inthe desired direction. HOI’TER toincrease temperature, COOLER todecrease temperature. You willhear and feel the notches as youturn the knob. Each notch changestemperature about 10°.4. Tighten the screws.5. Return the knob to the range.Recheck oven performance beforemaking an additional adjustment.18
