66 Lower Oven Care and CleaningCleaning RecommendationsSurface Type Cleaning Recommendation• Aluminum (trim pieces) & vinyl Use hot, soapy water and a cloth. Dry with a cleancloth.• Painted and plastic control knobs• Body parts,• Painted decorative trimFor general cleaning, use hot, soapy water and acloth. For more difficult soils and built-up grease,apply a liquid detergent directly onto the soil.Leave on soil for 30 to 60 minutes. Rinse with adamp cloth and dry. Do not use abrasive cleanerson any of these materials; they can scratch. Toremove control knobs, turn to the OFF position;grasp firmly and pull straight off the shaft. Toreplace knobs after cleaning, line up the flat sidesof both the knob and the shaft; then push the knobinto place.• Chrome control panel (some models)• Decorative trim (some models)• Stainless steel (some models)Before cleaning the control panel, turn all controlsto OFF and remove the control knobs. To remove,pull each knob straight off the shaft. Clean usinghot, soapy water and a dishcloth. Rinse with aclean water using a dishcloth. Be sure to squeezeexcess water from the cloth before wiping thepanel; especially when wiping around the controls.Excess water in or around the controls may causedamage to the appliance. To replace knobs aftercleaning, line up the flat sides of both the knob andthe shaft; then push the knob into place.Stainless Steel (some models). Clean the stain-less with warm soapy water using a clean spongeor cloth. Rinse with clean water and dry with a softclean cloth. Do not use harsh scrubbing cleaners.Only use kitchen cleaners that are especially madefor cleaning Stainless Steel. Always be sure torinse the cleaners from the surface as bluish stainsmay occur during heating that cannot be removed.• Porcelain enamel broiler pan and insert (ifequipped)• Door liner & body partsGentle scouring with a soapy scouring pad willremove most spots. Rinse with a 1:1 solution ofclear water and ammonia. If necessary, coverdifficult spots with an ammonia-soaked papertowel for 30 to 40 minutes. Rinse with clean waterand a damp cloth, and then scrub with a soap-filledscouring pad. Rinse and wipe dry with a cleancloth. Remove all cleaners or the porcelain maybecome damaged during future heating. Do notuse spray oven cleaners on the cooktop.
