7Planning the InstallationCabinet Layout• Carefully check the location where the range is to beinstalled. For best performance, the range should be placedaway from drafts that may be caused by doors, windows andheating and air conditioning outlets.• To reduce the risk of personal injury and to reduceaccumulated smoke in the room, Dacor strongly recommendsinstalling a range hood. A range hood should projecthorizontally a minimum of five (5) inches beyond the face ofthe cabinets.• All maximum and minimum dimensions and clearancesshown in the diagram below and on page 8 (asapplicable) must be maintained for safe operation.• In the freestanding configuration, the range may be installedflush to the rear wall. For all installations, Dacor highlyrecommends installing a non-combustible material on the rearwall above the range and up to the vent hood or installationof a backguard. It is not necessary to install non-combustiblematerials behind the range below the countertop height.• Any openings in the wall behind the appliance or in the floorunderneath it must be sealed.Gas and Electrical Service• The shaded area shown denotes the location of the gasinlet and the electrical junction box/receptacle. This is therecommended location. For replacement purposes, thelocation of the existing utilities may be utilized provided theydo not interfere with the sides or rear of the range. Checklocal building codes for permissible gas valve locations.• An external manual shut-off valve must be installed betweenthe gas inlet and the range for the purpose of turning on orshutting off gas to the appliance. The installation must allow for the following:• Access to the gas shut-off valve when the unit is installed.• Access to the remote circuit breaker panel or fuse box, whenthe range is in place.• The gas supply piping, gas shut-off valve and the electricaljunction box or receptacle must be located so they do notinterfere with the range when it is installed.• The junction box and gas shut off valve must be locatedso that the range can be pulled out for service while theappliance remains connected.Freestanding Cabinet Cutout Dimensions -Models ER30D and ER30D-CNote 2FG2 Cabinet/countertop depth is at discretion of customer butcabinet face MUST NOT protrude further than rear of frontpanel, see product dimensions.3 Vertical distance from range top panel level.1 Vertical to combustible surface from range grate level; ifinstalling an overhead vent hood, also check the hoodspecifications for minimum required clearances.Non-combustiblesurface alongback wallrecommended10” (25.4 cm) min.to combustible sidewalls above the range(both sides)30” (76.2 cm)min.136 1/2”(92.7 cm)max.13” (33.0 cm)max. 418” (45.7 cm)min. 3, 4Suggestedlocation ofutilities 34 This specification does not apply for cabinets morethan a horizontal distance of 10” (25.4 cm) from theedge of the range.Cutout tolerances: +1/16” (+1.6 mm), -0FREESTANDING CUTOUTDIMENSIONSF G36” (91.4 cm)*30” (76.2 cm)** 30 1/16” (76.4 cm)** Recommended** MinimumSee following page for self-rimming cutoutdimensions.WARNINGDo not operate the range without the backguard in place if theback wall is made of combustible materials.
