2Important Safety Instructions• Do not install or operate a damaged appliance. If youreceive a damaged appliance, contact your dealer orbuilder.• Observe all governing codes and ordinances duringplanning and installation. Contact your local buildingdepartment for further information.• For general ventilating use only. Do not use toexhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors.• Use this raised vent only for its intended purpose asoutlined in the use and care manual. This appliance isnot intended for commercial use.• The customer should not install, repair or replaceany part of this unit unless specifically recommendedin the literature accompanying it. A qualified servicetechnician should perform all other service. Contactthe Dacor Customer Service Team for examination,repair or adjustment.• Keep all packaging materials away from children.Plastic bags can cause suffocation.• For proper operation, this unit must be installed with aremote or in-line blower. Use only one of the modelsspecified. Only one blower shall be installed.• Install or locate this appliance only in accordancewith these installation instructions, the Dacor range/cooktop installation instructions and the remote orin-line blower installation instructions. Improper instal-lation, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenancecan cause serious personal injury or property dam-age.• Before installing or servicing the raised vent, discon-nect the power plug from the electrical outlet.• The installer must show the customer the location ofthe electrical outlet so that the customer knows whereand how to disconnect power.• Read the use and care manual completely beforeoperating this appliance.• Do not tamper with the controls.• Never allow the filters or vent openings to becomeblocked or clogged. Do not allow foreign objects, suchas cigarettes or napkins, to be sucked into the ventholes.• Clean the filters and all grease-laden surfaces oftento prevent grease fires and maintain performance.Clean this appliance only as specified in the use andcare manual.WARNINGGeneral Safety PrecautionsTo reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, serious injury or death when using your appliance, follow basic safety precau-tions, including the following:• Do not leave children or pets alone or unattended inthe area around the range or cooktop when it is inuse. Never allow children to sit or stand on an appli-ance. Do not let children play with a range, cooktopor the raised vent. Do not store items of interest tochildren above or around the appliance.• This appliance is equipped with a three prong ground-ing plug for your protection against possible electricshock hazards. It must be plugged into a dedicated,grounded electrical outlet. Where a standard twoprong electrical outlet is encountered, it is the per-sonal responsibility and obligation of the customer tohave it replaced with a dedicated, properly groundedthree prong electrical outlet.
