English10Trigger Switch (Fig. A)To turn the tool on, squeeze the trigger switch 5 . To turnthe tool off, release the trigger switch. Your tool is equippedwith a brake. The chuck will stop as soon as the triggerswitch is fully released.Variable speed Trigger switchThe variable speed trigger switch enables you to selectthe best speed for a particular application. The farther yousqueeze the trigger switch, the faster the tool will operate.For maximum tool life, use variable speed only for startingholes or fasteners.nOTE: Continuous use in variable speed range is notrecommended. It may damage the trigger switch andshould be avoided.Forward/Reverse Control Button (Fig. A)A forward/reverse control button 4 determines thedirection of bit rotation and also serves as a lock-off button.To select forward rotation, release the trigger switch 5and depress the forward/reverse control button on the rightside of the tool.To select reverse, depress the forward/reverse controlbutton on the left side of the tool.The center position of the control button locks the toolin the off position. When changing the position of thecontrol button, be sure the trigger is released.nOTE: The first time the tool is run after changing thedirection of rotation, you may hear a click on start up. This isnormal and does not indicate a problem.Proper Hand Position (Fig. H) WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personalinjury, ALWAYS use proper hand position as shown. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personalinjury, ALWAYS hold securely in anticipation of asudden reaction.Proper hand position requires one hand on the mainhandle 10 , with the other hand on the side handle 3 tocontrol the twisting action of the drill. Depress the mode selector release button 7 .2. Rotate the mode selector dial so that the arrow points tothe symbol corresponding for the desired mode.nOTE: The arrow on the mode selector dial 6 must bepointing at a mode symbol at all times. There are nooperable positions in between. It may be necessary to brieflyrun the motor after having changed from 'hammering only'to 'rotary' modes in order to align the gears or to positionthe chisle bit.Performing an Application (Fig. A, I) WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF PERSONALINJURY, ALWAYS ensure workpiece is anchored orclamped firmly. If drilling thin material, use a wood“back-up” block to prevent damage to the material. WARNING: Always wait until the motor has come toa complete standstill before changing the directionof rotation.1. Choose and install the appropriate chuck, adapter, and/or bit onto to the tool. Refer to Bit and Bit Holder.2. Using the mode selector dial 6 , select the modeappropriate to desired application. Refer toOperation Modes.3. Adjust the side handle 3 as necessary.4. Select the direction of rotation using the forward/reverse button 4 . When changing the position of thecontrol button, be sure the trigger is released.- To select forward rotation, press the forward/reversecontrol button on the right side of the tool.- To select reverse, press the forward/reverse controlbutton on the left side of the tool.nOTE: The center position of the control buttonlocks the tool in the off position.5. Place the bit/chisel on the desired location.6. Depress the trigger switch 5 . The farther you depressthe trigger switch, the faster the tool will operate. Formaximum tool life, use variable speed only for startingholes or fasteners.7. To stop the hammer, release the switch.Overload ClutchIn case of jamming of a drill bit, the drive to the drill spindleis interrupted by the overload clutch. Due to the resultingforces, always hold the tool with both hands and take afirm stance. After the overload, release and depress thetrigger to re-engage drive. WARNING: Drill may stall if overloaded causing asudden twist. Always expect the stall. Grip the drillfirmly to control the twisting action and avoid injury.Operation Modes (Fig. J) WARNING: Do not select the operating mode whenthe tool is running.To remove the battery pack from the tool, press the releasebutton 2 and firmly pull the battery pack out of the toolhandle. Insert it into the charger as described in the chargersection of this manual. |
