TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELSGauge wheels are properly adjusted whenthey are slightly off the ground when moweris at the desired cutting height in operatingposition. Gauge wheels then keep the deckin proper position to help prevent scalpingin most terrain conditions.NOTE: Adjust gauge wheels with tractor ona flat level surface.1. Adjust mower to desired cutting height(See "TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTINGHEIGHT" in this section of manual).©3/4"2. With mower in desired height of cut posi-tion, gauge wheels should be assembledso they are slightly off the ground. Installgauge wheel in appropriate hole. Tightensecurely.3. Repeat for all, installing gauge wheel insame adjustment hole.TO OPERATE MOWERYour tractor is equipped with an operatorpresence sensing switch. While engineis running, any attempt by the operator toleave the seat without first setting the park-ing brake will shut off the engine. You mustremain fully and centrally positioned in theseat to prevent the engine from hesitating orcutting off when operating your equipmenton rough, rolling terrain or hills.1. Select desired height of cut with attach-ment lift lever.2. Start mower blades by engaging attach-ment clutch control.TO STOP MOWER BLADESDisengage attachment clutch control._CAUTION: Do not operate the mowerwithout either the entire grass catcher, onmowers so equipped, or the deflector shieldin place.REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)Your tractor is equipped with a ReverseOperation System (ROS). Any attempt bythe operator to mow in the reverse directionwithout first pressing the ROS button (G) willstop mower blades. Ensure the transmissionis in the neutral position, movethe attachmentclutch control to the disengaged position, andthen back into the engaged position beforecontinuing with ROS operation.AI_WARNING: Backing up with the attach-ment clutch engaged while mowing is strong-ly discouraged. Allowing reverse operationwith the attachment clutch engaged shouldonly be done when the operator decides itis necessary to reposition the machine withthe attachment engaged. Do not mow inreverse unless absolutely necessary.USING THE REVERSE OPERATIONSYSTEM -Only use if you are certain no children orother bystanders will enter the mowing area.1. With engine running, depress brake pedalall the way down.2. Press ROS button (G) and ensure theROS button is lit.3. Look down and behind before and whilebacking.4. Release brake pedal and depress reversedrive pedal to start movement.5. When use ofthe ROS is no longer needed,press the ROS button to return to normaloperation. The ROS button should nolonger be lit.17
