GAS AND OIL FILL-UPOil (one bottle shipped with unit)FirstTime Use1. Removeoil fill plug.2. Withthe chippershredderon levelground,usea funnelto emptyentirecontentsof oil bottle providedintothe engine.3. Replaceoil fill plug and tighten.Subsequent UsesOnlyuse high qualitydetergentoil ratedwith APIserviceclassificationSF,SG,or SH. Selectthe oil'sSAE viscositygradeaccordingto theexpectedoperatingtemperature.Followthe chart below._older _ 32°F _Warmer'_Oil Viscosity Chart JAlcoholblendedfuels (calledgasoholor usingethanolor methanol)can attractmoisturewhich leadsto separationand formationof acidsduringstorage.Acidic gascan damagethe fuel systemof an enginewhilein storage.Toavoidengineproblems,thefuel systemshouldbe emptiedbeforestoragefor 30 days or longer.Drainthe gas tank,startthe engineand let it run untilthe fuel linesand carburetorare empty.Usefreshfuel next season.See STORAGEInstructionsfor additionalinformation.Neveruseengine or carburetorcleanerproductsin the fuel tank orpermanentdamagemayoccur.NOTE:Checkthe fuel levelperiodicallyto avoid runningout of gaso-line whileoperatingthe chippershredder.If the unit runsout of gas asitischipping,itmay be necessaryto unclogthe dischargeareabeforeitcan be restarted.Referto SERVICEAND MAINTENANCEsection.Althoughmulti-viscosityoils (5W30,10W30,etc.)improvestartingincold weather,they will result inincreasedoil consumptionwhenusedabove32°E Checkyourengine oil level morefrequentlyto avoidpossibleenginedamagefrom runninglowon oil.1. Checkthe oil levelby removingthe oil fill plug and lookingintotheoil fill hole.Oil shouldbe visibleup to thethreadsof theoil fillplug,almostto the pointof overflowing.Fill if necessary.Capac-ity is approximately28 oz. Overfillingcancause a hazardoussituation,be sureto wipeup anyspilledor excessoil.2. Replaceoil fill plug and tighten.3. Keepoil levelat FULL.Runningtheenginewith too little oil canresult in permanentenginedamage.GasolineUseextremecarewhenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremelyflammableand the vaporsare explosive.Neverfuel machineindoorsor whilethe engineis hotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,pipes,and othersourcesof ignition.1. Removefuel cap from thefuel tank.2. Makesurethe containerfrom which youwill pour thegasolineiscleanand freefrom rust or foreignparticles.Neveruse gasolinethat may be stale from long periodsof storagein its container.Gasolinethat hasbeen sittingfor anyperiod longerthanfourweeksshouldbe consideredstale.3. Fillfuel tank with clean,fresh,unleadedregulargasolineonly. Donot usegasolinecontainingMETHANOL.Replacefuelcap.TO START ENGINE1. Attach sparkplug wireand rubberbootto spark plug.2. Filltank to no morethan 1/2 inchbelowbottomof filler neck toprovidespacefor fuel expansion.3. Turnthe fuel shut-offvalve to the ONposition.4.
