• Usea flexible"spider"typecouplingbetweenengineandpumpdriveshafts.• Keephosesclearandunblocked.• Bleedairoutofhosesbeforeoperating.• Flushandcleanhydraulicsystembeforestartingafteranymalfunctionorservicing.• Use"pipedope"onallhydraulicfittings.• Allowtimeforwarm-upbeforesplittingwood.• Primethepumpbeforeinitialstart-upbyturningovertheenginewithsparkplugdisconnected.• Splitwoodwiththegrain(lengthwise)only.Never:• Use when fluid is below 20 ° F or above 150 ° F.• Use a solid engine/pump coupling.• Operate through relief valve for more thanseveral seconds.• Attempt to adjust unloading or relief valvesettings without pressure gauges.• Operate with air in hydraulic system.• Use teflon tape on hydraulic fittings.• Attempt to cut wood across the grain.UsingTheLogSplitter• Place the log splitter on level, dry, and solidground.• Place the beam in either the horizontal or verticalposition and lock in place with the appropriatelocking rod.• Block the front and back of both wheels.• Place the log against the end plate and only splitwood in the direction of the grain.• When necessary to stabilize the log, place yourhand only on sides of log. NEVER place hand onthe end between the log and splitting wedge.• Only one adult should stabilize the log andoperate the control handle, so the operator hasfull control over stabilizing the log and movementof the splitting wedge.Control Handle Positions• Move control handle FORWARD or DOWN tosplit wood.• Release the control handle to stop the wedgemovement.• Move control handle BACK or UP to return thewedge.VerticalPosition• Pull the horizontal beam lock out to release thebeam and pivot the beam to the vertical position.• To lock the beam in the vertical position, pull outon the vertical beam lock and pivot it to securethe beam. See Figure 8.• Stand in front of the log splitter to operate thecontrol handle and to stabilize the log.HorizontalPosition• Pull the vertical beam lock out and pivot it down.Pivot the beam to the horizontal position.• To lock the beam in the horizontal position, pullout on the horizontal beam lock and pivot it tosecure the beam. See Figure 8.• Stand behind the reservoir tank to operate thecontrol handle and to stabilize the log.Beam LockFigure 8TransportingThe Log Splitter• Lower the beam to its horizontal position. Makecertain the beam is locked securely with thehorizontal beam lock.• Remove the spring clip and clevis pin from jackstand. Support the tongue and pivot the jackstand up against the tongue. Secure with thespring clip and clevis pin previously removed.See Figure 8.• Attach coupler hitch to a class I or higher 1-7/8"ball on the towing vehicle, making certain to latchsecurely.• Connect the safety chains to the towing vehicle.• Do not tow faster than 45mph and check local,state, and federal requirements before towing onany public road.NOTE: Use caution when backing up. It isrecommended to use a spotter outside the vehicle. |
