1OPERATIONBag HanDLeUsed to grasp bag in order to assist in attaching, removing, andemptying bag. See Figure 10.BagCollects shredded material fed through the chipper chute or vacuumedthrough the nozzle or hose.BLOWer CHUTeWhen attached to unit, the blower chute is used to discharge yardwaste such as leaves, pine needle, or small twigs across yard.THrOTTLe COnTrOLThis lever controls the engine speed and stop function. Through threeseparate positions on the lever from left to right, the operation is asfollows:CHOke COnTrOLThe choke control is used to choke the carburetor and assist in startingthe engine.STarTer HanDLeUsed to start the engine.gaS anD OiL FiLL-UPOil (one bottle shipped with unit)First Time UseRemove oil fill dipstick. With the Yard Vacuum on level ground, use a funnel to emptyentire contents of oil bottle provided into the engine.Replace oil fill dipstick and tighten.Subsequent UsesOnly use high quality detergent oil rated with API service classificationSF, SG, or SH. Select the oil’s SAE viscosity grade according to theexpected operating temperature. Follow the chart below:1.2.3.Although multi-viscosity oils (5W30, 10W30, etc.) improve startingin cold weather, they will result in increased oil consumption whenused above 32°F. Check your engine oil level more frequently to avoidpossible engine damage from running low on oil.Check the oil level making certain not to rub the dipstick along theinside walls of the oil fill tube. This would result in a false dipstickreading. Refill to FULL mark on dipstick, if necessary. Capacityis approximately 18 oz. Overfilling will cause the engine to smokeprofusely and will result in poor engine performance.Replace oil fill dipstick and tighten.Keep oil level at FULL. Running the engine with too little oil canresult in permanent engine damage.gasolineRemove fuel cap from the fuel tank.Make sure the container from which you will pour the gasoline isclean and free from rust or foreign particles. Never use gasolinethat may be stale from long periods of storage in its container.Gasoline that has been sitting for any period longer than fourweeks should be considered stale.Fill fuel tank with clean, fresh, unleaded regular gasoline only. Donot use gasoline containing METHANOL. Replace fuel cap.NOTE: Check the fuel level periodically to avoid running out of gaso-line while operating the Yard Vacuum. If the unit runs out of gas as itis chipping, it may be necessary to unclog the discharge area before itcan be restarted. Refer to SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE section.1.2.3.1.2.3.STOPStart/ Run Slow/ Idle Engine OffOil Viscosity Chart5W30Colder WarmerSAE30WarningUse extreme care when handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremelyflammable and the vapors are explosive. Never fuel machine indoorsor while the engine is hot or running. Extinguish cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and other sources of ignition.CaUTiOnUse Alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or metha-nol) can attract moisture which leads to separation and formation ofacids during storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel system of anengine while in storage.CaUTiOnTo avoid engine problems, the fuel system should be emptied beforestorage for 30 days or longer. Drain the gas tank, start the engineand let it run until the fuel lines and carburetor are empty. Usefresh fuel next season. See STORAGE Instructions for additionalinformation.CaUTiOnNever use engine or carburetor cleaner products in the fuel tank orpermanent damage may occur. PreviousNext |
