(ThispageapplicableintheU.S.A.andCanadaonly.)Sears Brands Management Corporation (Sears), the California Air Resources Board (CARB)and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U,S, EPA)Emission Control System Warranty Statement (Owner's Defect Warranty Rights and Obligations)EMISSIONCONTROLWARRANTYCOVERAGEISAPPLICABLETOCERTIFIEDENGINES ANDTOCERTIFIEDMODELYEAR1997ANDLATERENGINESWHICHAREPURCHASEDANDPURCHASEDINCALIFORNIAIN1995ANDTHEREAFTER,WHICHAREUSEDINCALIFORNIA,USEDELSEWHEREINTHEUNITEDSTATES(ANDAFTERJANUARY1,2001INCANADA).California and United States Emission Control Defects Warranty StatementTheCaliforniaAir ResourcesBoard(CARB),U.S.EPAandSearsarepleasedto explaintheEmissionControlSystemWarrantyonyourmodelyear2000andlatersmalloff-roadengine(SORE).InCalifornia,newsmalloff-roadenginesmustbedesigned,built andequippedto meetthe State'sstringentanti-smogstandards.Elsewhereinthe UnitedStates,newnon-road,spark-ignitionenginescertifiedformodelyear1997andlatermustmeetsimilarstandardssetforth bythe U.S.EPA.Searsmustwarrantthe emissioncontrolsystemon yourengineforthe periodsof time listedbelow,providedtherehasbeennoabuse,neglector impropermaintenanceofyoursmalloff-roadengine.Youremissioncontrolsystemincludespartssuchasthe carburetor,air cleaner,ignitionsystem,mufflerandcatalyticconverter.Alsoincludedmaybe connectorsandotheremissionrelatedassemblies.Whereawarrantableconditionexists,Searswill repairyoursmalloff-roadengineat nocostto youincludingdiagnosis,partsandlabor.Sears Emission Control Defects Warranty CoverageSmalloff-roadenginesarewarrantedrelativetoemissioncontrolpartsdefectsforaperiodof oneyear,subjectto provisionssetforth below.Ifanycoveredparton yourOwner's Wa rra ntyAsthe smalloff-roadengineowner,youareresponsibleforthe performanceof therequiredmaintenancelistedinyourOperatingandMaintenanceInstructions.Searsrecommendsthat youretainall yourreceiptscoveringmaintenanceonyoursmalloff-roadengine,but Searscannotdenywarrantysolelyforthe lackofreceiptsor foryourfailureto ensurethe performanceof all scheduledmaintenance.Asthe smalloff-roadengineowner,youshouldhoweverbeawarethatSearsmaydenyyouwarrantycoverageifyoursmalloff-roadengineor apart hasfaileddueto abuse,neglect,engineisdefective,the partwill berepairedor replacedbySears.Responsibilitiesimpropermaintenanceor unapprovedmodifications.Youareresponsibleforpresentingyoursmalloff-roadengineto anAuthorizedSearsServiceDealerassoonasaproblemexists.Theundisputedwarrantyrepairsshouldbecompletedinareasonableamountof time,not to exceed30days.Ifyou haveanyquestionsregardingyourwarrantyrightsandresponsibilities,youshouldcontacta SearsServiceRepresentativeat 1-800-469-4663.Theemissionwarrantyis adefectswarranty.Defectsarejudgedon normalengineperformance.Thewarrantyisnot relatedto an in-useemissiontest.Soars Emission Control Defects Warranty ProvisionsThefollowingarespecificprovisionsrelativeto yourEmissionControlDefectsWarrantyCoverage.It isinadditionto the Searsenginewarrantyfornon-regulatedenginesfoundin the OperatingandMaintenanceInstructions.1. WarrantedPartsCoverageunderthiswarrantyextendsonlyto the partslistedbelow(theemissioncontrolsystemsparts)to the extentthesepartswerepresenton theenginepurchased.a. FueIMeteringSystem• Coldstartenrichmentsystem• Carburetorandinternalparts• FuelPumpb. Air lnductionSystem• Aircleaner• Intakemanifoldc. IgnitionSystem• Sparkplug(s)• Magnetoignitionsystemd. CatalystSystem• Catalyticconverter• Exhaustmanifold• Airinjectionsystemor pulsevalvee. MiscellaneousItemsUsedinAboveSystems• Vacuum,temperature,position,time sensitivevalvesandswitches• Connectorsandassemblies2. Lengthof CoverageSearswarrantsto the initialownerandeachsubsequentpurchaserthat theWarrantedPartsshallbefreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipwhichcausedthe failureof theWarrantedPartsforaperiodof oneyearfrom the datethe engineisdeliveredto aretailpurchaser.3. NoChargeRepairor replacementof anyWarrantedPartwill beperformedat nochargetothe owner,includingdiagnosticlaborwhichleadsto the determinationthataWarrantedPartisdefective,if the diagnosticwork isperformedat anAuthorizedSearsServiceDealer.ForemissionswarrantyservicecontactyournearestAuthorizedSearsServiceDealeraslistedin the"YellowPages"under"Engines,Gasoline,""GasolineEngines,""LawnMowers,"or similarcategory.4. ClaimsandCoverageExclusionsWarrantyclaimsshallbefiled inaccordancewith the provisionsof the SearsEngineWarrantyPolicy.WarrantycoverageshallbeexcludedforfailuresofWarrantedPartswhicharenot originalSearspartsor becauseof abuse,neglector impropermaintenanceassetforth inthe SearsEngineWarrantyPolicy.Searsisnot liableto coverfailuresofWarrantedPartscausedbythe useofadd-on,non-original,or modifiedparts.5. MaintenanceAnyWarrantedPartwhichis not scheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenanceor whichisscheduledonlyforregularinspectionto the effectof"repairor replaceasnecessary"shallbe warrantedastodefectsforthe warrantyperiod.AnyWarrantedPartwhichisscheduledfor replacementasrequiredmaintenanceshallbewarrantedasto defectsonlyforthe periodoftime upto the first scheduledreplacementforthat part.Anyreplacementpart thatisequivalentin performanceanddurabilitymaybeusedin the performanceofanymaintenanceor repairs.Theowneris responsiblefor the performanceofall requiredmaintenance,asdefinedinthe SearsOperatingandMaintenanceInstructions.ConsequentialCoverageCoveragehereundershallextendto the failureofanyenginecomponentscausedbythe failureof anyWarrantedPartstill underwarranty.Inthe USAandCanada,a24hourhot line,1-800-469-4663,hasamenuofpre-recordedmessagesofferingyouenginemaintenanceinformation.29GDOC-100188Rev.B
