Fuseone20AMPfuseisinstalledin yourtractor'swiring harnessto protectthe tractor'selectricalsystemfrom damagecausedbyexcessiveamperage.If the electricalsystemdoesnot function,or yourtractor'senginewill not crank,first checkto becertainthatthe fusehasnot blown.It canbefoundatthe rearofthe unit, underneaththe fenderlocatedbythe battery.Alwaysuseafuse with the sameamperagecapacityfor replacement.Cutting BladesShutthe engineoff andremoveignitionkeybefore removingthe cuttingblade(s)for sharpeningor replacement.Protectyour handsbyusing heavygloveswhengraspingthe blade.Periodicallyinspectthe bladeandlor spindlefor cracksor damage,especiallyafter you'vestruckaforeign object. Donot operatethe machineuntil damagedcomponentsarereplaced.4. Toproperlysharpenthe cuttingblades,removeequalamountsofmetalfrom bothendsof the bladesalongthe cuttingedges,parallelto the trailingedge,at a25°- to 30°angle.Alwaysgrindeachcutting bladeedgeequallytomaintainproperbladebalance.SeeFigure20.Figure20Toremovethe blades,proceedasfollows:1. Removethe deckfrom beneaththe tractor,(referto CuttingDeckRemovalearlierin thissection)thengentlyflip the deckoverto exposeits underside.2. Placeablockofwoodbetweenthecenterdeckhousingbaffleandthecuttingbladeto actasastabilizer.See.3. Removethe hexflangenut that securesthe bladeto the spindleassembly.ItexFlangeNut\JFigure19If the cutting edgeof the bladehaspreviouslybeensharpened,or if anymetal separationis present,replacethe bladeswith newones.A poorlybalancedbladewill causeexcessivevibration, maycausedamagetothe tractor and/or result in personalinjury.5. Testthe blade'sbalanceusinga bladebalancer.Grindmetalfrom theheavysideuntil it balancesevenly.NOTE:Whenreplacingthe blade,besureto installthe bladewith the sideoftheblademarked"Bottom" (orwith apartnumberstampedin it) facingthe groundwhenthe mowerisinthe operatingposition.Useatorque wrench to tighten the bladespindlehex flange nut to between70 Ibs-ft and 90 Ibs-ft.Changingthe DeckBeltBesureto shut the engine off, removeignitionkey,disconnectthe sparkplug wire(s)and groundagainst the engineto prevent unintendedstarting[before removng the be t.All belts on yourtractor aresubjectto wear andshouldbe replacedif anysignsof wear arepresent.IM PORTANT: TheV-beltfoundonyourtractorisspeciallydesignedto engageanddisengagesafely.Asubstitute(non-OEM)V-beltcanbedangerousbynotdisengagingcompletely.Foraproperworkingmachine,useidenticalequipmentbeltsaslistedinthe partspagesof thisOperator'sManual.23
