Select a board that is smooth andstraight, with good square edges.2. Mark lines "A" and °B" on the end ofthe board, as shown in Detail 15.Line "A" indicates the desiredheight-of-cut.Line "B" indicates the desired finaldepth-of-cut.The area outlined by "A", "B" andthe edge of the board is the areathat will be cut away.3. If the desired depth-of-cut can becut in a single pass, loosen the fenceclamping knobs and move the fenceforward or backward until theoutermost cutting edge of therouter bit is aligned with line =B".It may be necessary to raise theguard to provide clear access.NOTE: For deeper cuts, do NOTattempt to make the cut in a singlepass. Make multiple shallower passes, progressively moving the fencebackward until the desireddepth-of-cut is reached.4. Use the scales on the tabletopas a guide to align the fence, thenSECURELY tighten both fenceclamping knobs. Rotate the bit to makesure it will not contact the fence orguard. To provide the best supportduring routing operations, the fencefacings should be as close to the bit aspossible without being able to come incontact with the bit.I WARNING I Always make surethat the fence, fence facings, and guardcannot come in contact with the routerbit. Failure to do so will result in damageto the router table and can cause personalinjury.5.
