11Maintenance (continued)Installing A Replacement Cartridge FilterCraftsman Filter with Rubber Top Craftsman Filter with Plastic TopTHIS VACUUM CLEANER IS DESIGNED TO USE CRAFTSMAN CARTRIDGE FILTERS.1. Carefully slide the Craftsman cartridgefilter over the filter cage and pressdown on the outside edge of the filteruntil the rubber gasket on the bottom ofthe filter fits securely around the baseof the filter cage and against the lid.(Fig. 1)2. Align the small center hole in the top ofthe filter over the post on the filter cage.Press firmly on top of the filter near thepost to allow the filter to seat over thepost. (Fig. 2)3. To further secure filter, put on retainernut and turn clockwise to tighten untilsnug. (Fig. 3)1. Carefully slide the Craftsman cartridgefilter over the filter cage with the flat endof the filter towards the power head. (Fig.1a)2. Carefully push filter down until it is fullyseated on the power head. (Fig. 2a)3. To secure filter; put on retainer nut andturn clockwise to tighten until snug. Donot over tighten. (Fig. 3a)WARNING: Always disconnectthe plug from the power outletbefore removing the power headfrom the collection tank.!1 2 3 3a1a 2aNOTE: Always retain the original retainer nut. Do not misplace it while removing or replacingthe cartridge filter.IMPORTANT! Clean or change thecartridge filter regularly for bestperformance.ALWAYS USE CARTRIDGE FILTER FORDRY VACUUMING. If the machine isused without the cartridge filter, the motorwill burn out and the warranty will be voided.Always keep spare filters on-hand.
