Install the Ink TanksUnpack the Printer1 2 3 4 5Prepare the Printer Install the Print HeadColor Bubble Jet PrinterConnect the PrinterTo Your ComputerStart HereEasy Setup Instructions(IEEE 1284 compliant)Parallel CableFor USB Cables:For Parallel Cables:Parallel PortSecureWire ClipsParallel CableTurn the printer off.Connect one end of the USB cable tothe computer, the other to the printer.Turn the printer off.Connect one end of the parallel cable tothe computer, the other to the printer.IMPORTANT: Be sure printer is offbefore continuing, or the computerwill attempt to install the printerdriver before the printer is ready.IMPORTANT: Be sure printer is offbefore continuing, or the computerwill attempt to install the printerdriver before the printer is ready.Continue with Step 6on side two.USB PortUSB CableProtective capInsert the ink tank into the correct slot.(Refer to the color guide on the print head.)Press down until the ink tank clicks intoplace.Peel back the orange tab and completelyremove the plastic wrapper from the yellowink tank (BCI-3eY).Twist off and discard the orangeprotective cap.NOTE: To avoid spilling ink, never press onthe sides of an ink tank.Insert the remaining three ink tanks intotheir assigned slots.Close the front cover. Open and pull out thepaper rest and the output tray.Print NozzleElectrical ContactsLower the gray lock lever until it locksinto place.Raise the gray lock lever.Gently slide the print head into the holder.The print head will rest at a slight angle.Do not press it down.Remove the print head from its package.Turn the print head over, then removethe orange protective cap.NOTE: Do not touch the electrical contacts.Plug the power cord into the back of theprinter and connect the other end to apower outlet.Open the front cover. The print head holderautomatically moves to the center. Removethe protective tape.Write down the serial number located tothe right of the print head.
