The print head holder automaticallymoves to the center.Press the Power button. The printer willinitialize.Plug the power cord into the back of theprinter and connect the other end to apower outlet.Remove all shipping tape from the frontand back of the printer.Write down the serial number located tothe right of the print head holder. You willneed this later to register the product.PowerLampPowerButtonSerial NumberOutput TrayFront CoverShippingTapePaper RestOutput TrayRemove the black ink tank (BCI-24 Black)from its package and pull off the orangeprotective cap.NOTE: Avoid ink at the bottom of the tank.Insert the black ink tank into the slot onthe right, then push in until the ink tankclicks into place.Close the front cover, attach the paper restand pull out the output tray.Protective CapClickRepeat the procedure for the color inktank (BCI-24 Color), inserting it into theremaining slot.NOTE: The printer will perform a printhead cleaning after the cover is closed.Continue with Step 6on side two.PaperGuideUSB CableUSB PortIMPORTANT: Be sure the printeris off before continuing, or thecomputer will attempt to installthe printer driver before theprinter is ready.IMPORTANT: For correct printeroperation, make sure ink tanksare secure in slots.Connect one end of a USB cable tothe computer, the other to the printer.Pinch the paper guide and slide it to theleft. Load a sheet of blank paper in thepaper rest. Slide the guide toward theleft edge of the paper.Turn the printer off.ClickRemove the print head from its package.NOTE: Do not touch the electrical contactsor the print head nozzles.Raise the gray lock lever on the printer.Slide the print head into the holder untilit is securely seated.Do not press it down.Lower the lever until it clicks into place.Remove the orange protective cap.ElectricalContactsTear at notch to openPrint HeadNozzles1234515431212341232 Prepare the Printer1 Unpack the Printer 3 Install the Print Head 4 Install the Ink Tanks 5 Connect the Printerand Load Paper
