Before low-levelformatting, copy images on the memory card to a computer, or take othersteps to back them up.zz On the screen in step 2 of “FormattingMemory Cards” (=82), press the<o><p> buttons to choose [Low LevelFormat], and then press the <q><r>buttons to select this option. A [ ] icon isdisplayed.zz Follow step 3 in “Formatting MemoryCards” (=82) to continue with theformatting process.• Low-level formatting takes longer than “Formatting Memory Cards” (=82),because data is erased from all storage regions of the memory card.• You can cancel low-level formatting in progress by choosing [Stop]. In thiscase, all data will be erased, but the memory card can be used normally.File NumberingYour shots are automatically numbered in sequential order (0001 – 9999)and saved in folders that store up to 2,000 images each. You can changehow the camera assigns file numbers.zz Choose [File Numbering], and thenchoose an option.ContinuousImages are numberedconsecutively (until the 9999thshot is taken/saved) even ifyou switch memory cards.Auto ResetImage numbering is reset to0001 if you switch memorycards, or when a new folder iscreated.• Regardless of the option selected in this setting, shots may be numberedconsecutively after the last number of existing images on newly insertedmemory cards.
