If thepaper still develops downward curl and,thus, fails to deposit itself normally, tryenabling the downward curl mode item.b. Enabling the Downward Curl Mode1) Turn off the host machine.2) Set the bits of SW104 on the finishercontroller PCB as follows:F-4-63) Turn on the host machine.- When this mode item is enabled, themachine changes the speed of its stackdelivery roller to ensure proper stacking.- When this mode item has been enabled,changes in conditions (e.g., the use ofpaper with little curl or paper with upwardcurl) can cause improper stacking. In thisregard, it is very important to study thetype of paper that is most often used by theuser before enabling this mode item.4.3.1.4 Heavy PaperUpward Curl Mode 0009-2566a. OutlineDepending on the selected paper handlingmode and the condition of paper*, upwardcurl can develop and prevent the machinefrom stacking the paper properly. (See thefollowing figure.)*For instance, heavy paper cover modeand single-side binding are selected, andthe front/back cover is LDR and 157 g/m2or more.F-4-7If this is the case,1) Turn over the stack of paper in thesource (i.e., cassette). If doing so hascaused the paper to curl more than before,turn back over the stack. If the curling isstill appreciable and the machine fails tostack the paper properly, try enablingheavy paper upward curl mode.b.
