2-12❏ Fingerprint Authentication● Follow the procedure below to use fingerprintregistration and authentication.1. Align the first joint of a finger on the sensor andpress the finger on the fingerprint sensor.2. Keep the finger pressed while slowly sliding itstraight at a constant speed to scan thefingerprint.● Fingerprint authentication uses the uniqueinformation of fingerprints. The fingerprintauthentication function may not work properly for afinger with a fingerprint that is worn down or hasfew distinguishable features.● The same finger needs to be scanned three timesto register the fingerprint.● The authentication performance differs dependingon the condition of the fingerprint when it isregistered and when it is authenticated. Thefollowing conditions may cause an error infingerprint authentication:– The finger is wet or sweaty– The finger is dirty– The grooves of the fingerprint are filled withsweat or oil– The finger is dry (dry skin)– Part of the fingerprint is missing because of, forexample, a wound or burn injury– The fingerprint has worn thin● Authentication performance may improve if thecondition of the fingerprint is improved as a resultof washing your hands or applying hand cream.● Authentication may not be performed properlydepending on the speed with which you slide yourfinger over the sensor. In this case, adjust thespeed with which you slide your finger inaccordance with the message that appears.● Fingerprint authentication does not necessarilyguarantee the authentication and verification of theidentity of a person.HintFor details on the procedures for fingerprint registration andauthentication, see Chapter 3 “Operating Procedures”.
