Electric Brake Control WiringProvisionsThese wiring provisions are included with yourvehicle as part of the heavy-duty trailer wiringpackage. These provisions are for an electricbrake controller. The red/black stripe power feedwill not be connected to the battery until thering terminal is unstowed and connected to theunderhood electrical center. The instrumentpanel contains blunt cut wires near the datalink connector for the trailer brake controller.The harness contains the following wires:• Dark Blue: Auxiliary• Red/Black: Battery• Light Blue/White: Brake Switch• White: GroundIt should be installed by your dealer or aqualfiied service center.Trailer RecommendationsYou must subtract your hitch loads from theCargo Weight Rating (CWR). CWR is themaximum weight of the load your vehicle cancarry. It doesn’t include the weight of the peopleinside. But you can figure about 150 lbs. (68 kg)for each seat. The total cargo load must notbe more than your vehicle’s CWR.Weigh your vehicle with the trailer attached, sothat you won’t go over the GVWR or GAWR.If you are using a weight-distributing hitch, weighthe vehicle without the spring bars in place.You’ll get the best performance if you spreadout the weight of your load the right way, and ifyou choose the correct hitch and trailer brakes.For more information, see Towing a Traileron page 375.388
