Check the rim well for wear. The rims of a rim brake with invisible wearindicator are worn as soon as the wearindicator becomes visible in the area of the rimjoint. The rims with visible wear indicator are worn assoon as the black, all-round groove on the padfriction surface is no longer visible. We recommend that you also replace the rimsat the same time as every second brake liningreplacement.7.5.1.4 Checking the nipple holesNipples cause fatigue and stress on the edge ofthe nipple hole. Check whether there are cracks on the edge ofthe nipple hole.If there are cracks on the edge of the nipple hole,contact your specialist dealer.7.5.1.5 Checking the nipple wellThe nipple holes can weaken the tyre bed. Check to see if cracks are emerging from thenipple holes. If there are cracks radiating from the nipplehole, contact your specialist dealer.7.5.1.6 Checking the rim hooksMechanical impacts can warp the rim hooks.There is no longer a guarantee that a tyre can befitted safely if this is the case. Check for twisted rim hooks. Replace rims with twisted rim hooks. Neverrepair the rim with pliers and bend the hookback.7.5.1.7 Checking the spokes Press spokes slightly together with your thumband index finger. Check to ensure that thetension is the same for all spokes. Contact your specialist dealer if the spokes areloose or are tensioned differently.Crash caused by a worn rimA worn rim can break and block the wheel. Thismay cause a crash with serious injuries.
