3EnglishREAD ALL INSTRUCTIONSImportant Safety Instructions for AllBattery Packs WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions,and cautionary markings for the battery pack,power supply and product. Failure to follow thewarnings and instructions may result in electricshock, fire and/or serious injury.• Do not charge or use the battery pack in explosiveatmospheres, such as in the presence of flammableliquids, gases or dust. Inserting or removing the batterypack from the product may ignite the dust or fumes.• NEVER force the battery pack into the product. DONOT modify the battery pack in any way to fit into anon‑compatible charger as battery pack may rupturecausing serious personal injury.• Charge the battery packs only in BLACK+DECKERchargers or this product.• Consult the chart at the end of this manual forcompatible battery packs and chargers.• DO NOT splash or immerse in water or other liquids.• DO NOT allow water or any liquid to enter battery pack.• Do not store or use the tool and battery pack inlocations where the temperature may reach orexceed 104 °F (40 °C) (such as outside sheds or metalbuildings in summer). For best life store battery packs ina cool, dry location.NOTE: Do not store the battery packs in a tool withthe trigger switch locked on. Never tape the triggerswitch in the ON position.• Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it isseverely damaged or is completely worn out. Thebattery pack can explode in a fire. Toxic fumes andmaterials are created when lithium‑ion battery packsare burned.• If battery contents come into contact with the skin,immediately wash area with mild soap and water. Ifbattery liquid gets into the eye, rinse water over the openeye for 15 minutes or until irritation ceases. If medicalattention is needed, the battery electrolyte is composed of amixture of liquid organic carbonates and lithium salts.• Contents of opened battery cells may causerespiratory irritation. Provide fresh air. If symptomspersist, seek medical attention.• Battery liquid may be flammable if exposed to sparkor flame.• Never attempt to open the battery pack for anyreason. If the battery pack case is cracked ordamaged, do not insert into the product. Do not crush,BATTERIES AND POWER SUPPLYThe battery pack is not fully charged out of the carton.Before using the battery pack and power supply, readthe safety instructions below and then follow chargingprocedures outlined. When ordering replacement batterypacks, be sure to include the catalog number and voltage.The label on your tool may include the following symbols. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk ofinjury and fire.• When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from othermetal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screwsor other small metal objects, that can make a connectionfrom one terminal to another. Shorting the batteryterminals together may cause burns or a fire.• Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected fromthe battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs,flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seekmedical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may causeirritation or burns.• Do not use a battery pack or appliance that is damagedor modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibitunpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or riskof injury.• Do not expose a battery pack or appliance to fire orexcessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperatureabove 265°F may cause explosion.• Follow all charging instructions and do not charge thebattery pack or appliance outside of the temperaturerange specified in the instructions. Charging improperlyor at temperatures outside of the specified range maydamage the battery and increase the risk of fire.• Have servicing performed by a qualified repair personusing only identical replacement parts. This will ensurethat the safety of the product is maintained.• Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or thebattery pack (as applicable) except as indicated in theinstructions for use and care. |
