Insert four fresh alkaline AAA batteriesmaking sure to match (+) and (-) terminals correctly. Replace the battery compartment cover.WARNING: Batteries can explode, or leak, and can cause injury or fire. To reduce this risk:• Carefully follow all instructions and warnings on the battery label and package. • Always insertbatteries correctly with regard to polarity (+ and -), marked on the battery and the equipment. • Donot short battery terminals. • Do not charge batteries. • Do not mix old and new batteries. Replaceall of them at the same time with new batteries of the same brand and type. • Remove deadbatteries immediately and dispose of per local codes. • Do not dispose of batteries in fire. • Keepbatteries out of reach of children. • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for several months.“Transporting batteries can possibly cause fires if the battery terminals inadvertently come in contact with conductive materials suchas keys, coins, hand tools and the like. The US Department of Transportation Hazardous Material Regulations (HMR) actuallyprohibit transporting batteries in commerce or on airplanes (i.e. packed in suitcases and carryon luggage) UNLESS they are properlyprotected from short circuits. So when transporting individual batteries, make sure that the battery terminals are protected and wellinsulated from materials that could contact them and cause a short circuit.”OperationWARNING: Always use proper eye protection.To extend the tape, push the switch in the forwarddirection as shown in figure 2.To retract the tape, push the switch in the rearwarddirection as shown in figure 3. Retract tape slowly.Manual RetractionTo manually retract the tape, pull back on the springloaded tape release as shown in figure 4.WARNING:• Avoid tape while it is extending or retracting asinjury is possible.• Do not operate in explosive atmospheres, such asin the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.• Store idle product out of reach of children.• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention isnecessary when used by or near children. Notrecommended for use by children.• Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces.
