Configuring the CameraBasler A500k Series 4-3PRELIMINARY4.1.3 Configuration Tool BasicsThe RAM memory in the camera contains the set of parameters that controls the current operationof the camera. This set of parameters is known as the Work Set (see Section 3.11). The CCT+ isused to view the present settings for the parameters in the Work Set or to change the settings. When the CCT+ is opened and a port isselected, it queries the camera anddisplays a list of the current settings forthe parameters in the Work Set.To simplify navigation, parameters areorganized in related groups. Forexample, all parameters related to thecamera output can be found in theOutput group. When you click on the plus or minus signbeside a group (+ or -), the parameters inthis group will be shown or hidden, respectively. To get an overview of all parametersavailable on the connected camera, maximize the CCT+ window and click the+ sign beside each group. The camera parameter names always appear in the left column of the list. The current setting foreach parameter appears in the right column.By default, a Parameter Description window is displayed. In this window, you can find basicinformation on the selected parameter and if present, on the dependencies that may exist betweenthe selected parameter and other parameter(s).If you make a change to one of the settings, that change will instantly be transmitted from theCCT+ to the camera’s Work Set. Because the parameters in the Work Set control the currentoperation of the camera, you will see an immediate change in the camera’s operation.By default, the CCT+ automatically updates the displayed settings every 5 seconds. The featurebehind this behavior is called Auto Refresh. If Auto Refresh is not enabled, the display will notupdate when a camera setting is changed using another tool, when power to the camera isswitched off and on, or when the connected camera is exchanged while the CCT+ is displayingthe camera settings. To manually refresh the display, you can use the Refresh button in the topright corner of the tool.* Keep in mind that the Work Set is stored in a volatile memory. Any changes you maketo the Work Set using the configuration tool will be lost when the camera is switchedoff. To save changes you make to the Work Set, save the modified Work Set into oneof the camera’s 15 User Sets. The User Sets are stored in non-volatile memory andwill not be lost when the camera is switched off (see Section 3.11).Alternatively, you can also save the Work Set to the hard disk of your computer andload it from hard disk.If you want your changes to be loaded into the Work Set at the next power on, set theStartup Pointer to the User Set where you saved your changes.Figure 4-1: Exposure Group
