901746-01D11TO TURN OFF GASTO APPLIANCEShutting Off Appliance1. Turn control knob clockwise to the PILOT position.2. Press in and turn control knob clockwise to theOFF position.Shutting Off Burner Only (pilot stays lit)Turn control knob clockwise to the PILOT position.5. Turn control knob counterclockwise to the PILOTposition and press in (see Figure 21, page 10). Keep controlknob pressed in for five (5) seconds.Note: You may be running this log set for the first timeafter hooking up to gas supply. If so, the control knob mayneed to be pressed in for 30 seconds or more. This will al-low air to bleed from the gas system.• If control knob does not pop up when released, contact aqualified service person or gas supplier for repairs.6. With control knob pressed in, push down and release igni-tor button. This will light pilot. The pilot is attached to therear of the front burner. If needed, keep pressing ignitorbutton until pilot lights.Note: If pilot does not stay lit, contact a qualified serviceperson or gas supplier for repairs. Until repairs are made,light pilot with match.7. Keep control knob pressed in for 30 seconds after lightingpilot. After 30 seconds, release control knob.Note: If pilot goes out, repeat steps 3 through 7, pages 10and 11.8. Turn control knob counterclockwise to the ONposition. Burner should light. If burner does not light, calla qualified service person.OPERATING APPLIANCEContinuedPilotThermocoupleINSPECTING BURNERSCheck pilot flame pattern and burner flame patterns often.PILOT ASSEMBLYThe pilot assembly is factory preset for the proper flame height.Alterations may have occurred during shipping and handling. Thepilot is located on the back right hand side of the burner.The thermocouple should be fully enveloped in the flame. The flameshould not be lifting off of the thermocouple element.If your pilot assembly does not meet these requirements:• Access the pilot adjustment screw through slot in valve cover.Turn adjustment screw clockwise to decrease (close) or coun-terclockwise to increase (open) the flame to proper size (see Fig-ure 16, page 8). Do not remove the adjustment screw.• see Troubleshooting, pages 12 through 15Figure 23 - Correct Pilot Flame PatternBURNER FLAME PATTERNBurner flames will be steady; not lifting or floating. Flames shouldgo up through the middle of logset. Flames should not "spill" to theedges of the pan or sides of the logset.Figure 24 shows a typical flame pattern.
