2-11installing your controllerusing SMORYou need to run SMOR in systems where you need to configurethe controller and set up disk arrays before the operating systemhas been installed. Run SMOR as directed in the installationprocedures in this Installation Guide to:n Check the cache memory module after installing thecontroller (refer to Step 2 on page 2-8).n Configure the controller as a boot controller after installingthe controller (refer to determining the booting controller onpage 2-10).n Create disk arrays during driver installation (seeChapter 3).After your system is set up, you can use all of the advancedfeatures of Storage Manager Pro or Storage Manager to modifyand improve the RAID. Complete SMOR documentation isprovided in the Adaptec Storage Management Software User’sGuide.To run SMOR and configure a new system1 Press Ctrl+A when the Adaptec I2 O BIOS message appearsduring boot to start SMOR.Note: The Adaptec RAID Installation CD boot utility cancreate a bootable floppy disk that will run SMOR. Thisdisk automatically starts SMOR, enabling you to performconfiguration tasks when you can’t start SMOR from theSCSI RAID controller using Ctrl+A.2 Inspect the hardware configuration.a Verify that all peripheral devices and controllers areshown. If any devices are missing from the display, exitSMOR and check your hardware connections.b View the Information window for each controller to verifythat all installed expansion and memory modules areshown. Write down the IRQ and address displayed in theConfiguration tab—you may need this information later.
