2-4Adaptec RAID Installation GuideHost Bus Adapter window in Storage Manager to change the controllerSCSI ID.Note: Changing the controller ID is not recommended. Youshould leave the Adaptec RAID controller set at SCSI ID7.SCSI terminationThe basics of termination are as follows:n Enable termination on the devices on each physical end of aSCSI cable. Depending upon how you configure yoursystem, you would eithern Enable termination on two SCSI peripheral devices, orn Enable termination on the SCSI controller and oneperipheral SCSI device.n If you are using multiple SCSI channels on a singlecontroller, terminate each channel separately.SCSI termination for Adaptec SCSI RAID controllers isconfigured through the SMOR utility or from the Configure HostBus Adapter window in Storage Manager. The controller has fourpossible termination settings, as shown in the following table:Devices on the second bus (Bus 1) and higher (if the RAIDcontroller has more than two) must have Wide termination.Setting FunctionAuto Default—Used for all cabling conditions, except wheretwo Narrow cables are attached or both Narrow and Widecables are attached. For these exceptions, use High Only.High Only Terminates only the additional signals that are used onWide SCSI devices. This allows attachment of a Narrowcable, or both a Wide and Narrow cable together, to beattached to the controller.Disabled Disables controller termination unconditionally.Enabled Enables controller termination unconditionally.
