A very soft rope may resultin poor lifting capacity since the rope startsto slip or in the worst-case scenario even ajam.Before using for the first time, new ropesmust be soaked in cold water (20-30 C) forat least 24 hours or according to the ropemanufacturers’ instructions, and allowed todry thoroughly at room temperature beforeusing with the power ascender.NOTE! Not all 1891 A ropes perform in a simi-lar way. They have slightly different characte-ristics (stiff, soft, thick/thin mantle etc).
