Make sure that you can come tothe mains plug of the appliance.4. Do not pull the mains cable.5. If the power plug socket is loose,do not insert the power plug.There is a risk of electric shock orfire.6. You must not operate the appli-ance without the lamp cover (ifforeseen) of interior lighting.• This appliance is heavy. Care shouldbe taken when moving it.• Do not remove nor touch items fromthe freezer compartment if your handsare damp/wet, as this could cause skinabrasions or frost/freezer burns.• Avoid prolonged exposure of the ap-pliance to direct sunlight.• Bulb lamps (if foreseen) used in thisappliance are special purpose lampsselected for household appliances useonly. They are not suitable for house-hold room illumination.1.3 Daily Use• Do not put hot pot on the plastic partsin the appliance.• Do not store flammable gas and liquidin the appliance, because they mayexplode.• Do not place food products directlyagainst the air outlet on the rear wall.(If the appliance is Frost Free)• Frozen food must not be re-frozenonce it has been thawed out.• Store pre-packed frozen food in ac-cordance with the frozen food manu-facturer's instructions.• Appliance's manufacturers storagerecommendations should be strictlyadhered to. Refer to relevant instruc-tions.• Do not place carbonated or fizzydrinks in the freezer compartment as itcreates pressure on the container,which may cause it to explode, result-ing in damage to the appliance.• Ice lollies can cause frost burns if con-sumed straight from the appliance.1.4 Care and cleaning• Before maintenance, switch off the ap-pliance and disconnect the mains plugfrom the mains socket.• Do not clean the appliance with metalobjects.• Do not use sharp objects to removefrost from the appliance. Use a plasticscraper.• Regularly examine the drain in the re-frigerator for defrosted water. If neces-sary, clean the drain. If the drain isblocked, water will collect in the bot-tom of the appliance.1.5 InstallationFor electrical connection careful-ly follow the instructions given inspecific paragraphs.• Unpack the appliance and check ifthere are damages on it. Do not con-nect the appliance if it is damaged.Report possible damages immediatelyto the place you bought it. In that caseretain packing.• It is advisable to wait at least fourhours before connecting the appli-ance to allow the oil to flow back inthe compressor.• Adequate air circulation should bearound the appliance, lacking thisleads to overheating. To achieve suffi-cient ventilation follow the instructionsrelevant to installation.• Wherever possible the back of theproduct should be against a wall toavoid touching or catching warm parts(compressor, condenser) to preventpossible burn.4 www.aeg.com
