22 AdjustmentsThe AV200R and AV201R receivers both include brightness and sharpnessadjustment dials. Additionally, the AV201R receiver is also equipped with twoextra dials to eliminate the effects of colour skew within the video image.Brightness and sharpness adjustmentsThe brightness and sharpness adjustmentsprovided on every AV receiver allow you tocompensate for any losses incurred withinlong cable links.When making adjustments it is necessaryto have access to the AV receiver and to beable to view one or both connected displayscreens. Both adjustments, sharpness inparticular, are made easier when viewing highcontrast images with vertical edges, such asblack lines on a white background.NOTE: Both video outputs are equallyaffected by your brightness and/or sharpnessadjustments.BRIGHT SHARPADDERLINKSharpness dialBrightness dial High contrastblack characteron whitebackgroundBlack or brightwhite shadowon the rightindicates the needfor sharpnessadjustmentTo display a suitable high contrast image• Open a word processor, type the capitalletter ‘H’, or ‘M’ and increase the pointsize to 72 or higher. For best results, thebackground should be white and thecharacter should be black.• A BLACK shadow on the right ofthe character indicates UNDERcompensation.• A WHITE shadow on the right of thecharacter indicates OVER compensation.To adjust brightness and/or sharpness1 Carefully insert a small screwdriver into the dial labelled BRIGHT or SHARP, asappropriate.2 Slowly turn the dial clockwise or anticlockwise and observe the effect shownon the screen. Withdraw the screwdriver when the displayed image is shownat its optimum clarity.3 If necessary, repeat step 2 for the other dial.Note: If the sharpness control is set too high, the monitor may not be ableto display a picture. If this occurs, reduce the sharpness setting.
