3.4 Handling of motorsAssembling motor axis and transmission elementCouplings, pulley, and motor pinion (transmission elements) must be assembledusing adequate tools. Otherwise the motor shaft can be distorted which damagesthe resolver. Never use a hammer, as this will damage the equipment.CAUTIONWhen fitting the transmission element, make sure not to use high force or othermethods that can damage the transmission element, shaft, resolver, or connectionbox. The motor axis should be fitted using a press tool or a method with a dolly. Useheating if required. The maximum allowed press force depends on the assembly method. See thefollowing figures and tables.NoteGrease the shaft after assembly to avoid oxidation.Assembly with press toolAssembly using a press tool with dolly is the best method. The tool can be fittedon the motor shaft as shown in the following figure.NoteThis method is not applicable for MU 100 since it does not have a flange on themotor shaft.Fxx1300000317Continues on next page58 Product manual - Motor Units and Gear Units3HAC040148-001 Revision: K© Copyright 2011 -2018 ABB.
