84 CHAPTER 8: SYSTEM EVENTS4 Check Enable Email Notifcation of System Events.5 In the SMTP IP Address field, enter the IP address of the server to whichthe email notifications from the Webcache will be sent.CAUTION: To use the email notification feature, you must enter the IPaddress of an SMTP server that does not require SMTP authentication inthe SMTP IP Address field in the Email Notification screen.6 In the From Addresses for Notifications field, enter the address of theemail account from which the email notifications will appear to be sentfrom.CAUTION: If you do not enter a valid email address, the emailnotifications will be rejected by the server that you entered in the SMTPName/IP address field. A valid email address is a fully specified addresscontaining a domain name, for example “webcache@3com.com”. Thepartial address “webcache” would be rejected by the server.3Com recommends that you use the domain name of the Webcache asthe email address. If you have entered “webcache” as the host name and“mycompany.com” as the DNS domain name of the Webcache, then youwould enter “webcache@mycompany.com” as the email address.7 In the To Addresses to Receive Notifications field, enter the addresses ofall the email accounts that will receive the email notifications. Ensure thatyou separate each address with a comma. You can enter up to 255characters in this field.8 You can configure the Webcache to send an email notification whencertain system events occur by checking the relevant boxes: Webcache Software Upgrade EventsThis includes the following events: A new software upgrade is available.This email notification will only be sent if you have enabled automaticsoftware upgrade detection on the Webcache. You can do this using theUpgrade Settings screen. A software upgrade has succeeded. A software upgrade has failed. Webcache System Failure EventsThis includes the following events: The Webcache has failed its Power On Self Test.
