Connectthe other end to the far end station. For 100Base-Tports, plug a Category 5 (or greater) twisted pair cableinto the M12 connector. Verify that the LNK LEDs areON once the connection has been completed. Toconnect any port to another device (end node, Switchor Repeater), use a standard Category 5 straightthrough or crossover cable with a minimum length ofone meter and a maximum length of 100 meters.Red Lion recommends the use of pre-manufacturedCAT5 cables with an M12 connector on the switchend to ensure the best performance. If this is not anoption and users must terminate their own ends onthe CAT5E cables; one of the two color coded standards shown to the right should be utilized. The pin-outs are shownbelow.2.6.3.2 Serial Cable ConnectionConnect the serial COM port of your PC and the 708M12 or 716M12 model switch using the available Serial-DB9-M12 serial cable. You will require a cable with a 9-pin or 25-pin sub-D female connector for the PC end, and a 4-pinA Coded M12 Male connector for the 708M12 or 716M12 end.
