16 JCB-18BLDDInstruction & User Manualm Press the bit firmly against the screw anddrive in the screw.m Once the screw is sufficiently tightened,release the power switch before you stoppressing in the screw, otherwise you candamage the screw or screw head. Thebit or tool can be damaged if you do notrelease the power switch immediately.To unscrew/loosen screws:m Set the rotation selector to anticlockwiserotation.m Place the bit into the screw head in line withthe screw. Otherwise the screw can bedamaged.m Press the bit firmly against the screw andloosen the screw.Speed ControlOnly use the speed control switch when thetool is stopped and the chuck is not rotating.Otherwise the tool can be damaged.WARNING!m Move the speed control switch away fromthe chuck to position 1 for low speed (0 to350rpm).m Use the low speed mode for screw drivingand for drilling holes with a large diameter.m Move the speed control forwards towardsthe chuck to position 2 for high speed (0 to1200 rpm).m Use the high speed mode for drilling smallholes.MaintenanceSwitch off the tool and disconnect the power(remove battery/unplug) before cleaning andmaintenance. This helps avoid the risk ofelectric shocks and accidental starting.WARNING!m Wipe the tool with a dry or damp cloth.Do not use a wet cloth. Do not usedetergent that contains solvent orcorrosive, abrasive additives. This risksdamaging the surfaces of the tool.m Clear the tool vents and the accessorymount of dust and dirt after each use.Do not clean ventilation holes byinserting sharp objects in them, suchas screwdrivers and other similarobjects.m Stubborn contamination in areas hard toaccess can be removed with compressed air(max 3. bar).m Regularly check all fasteners, screws andbolts to make sure that they are tight.Tighten any loose screws immediately orserious injury could occur.Never open the tool. The tool has nointernal parts that the user can service orrepair. Never try to repair the tool yourself.Take to an authorised service centre.WARNING!Transport and Storagem If the tool will remain unused for any lengthof time, it should be stored in the originalpackaging.m Store the tool in a dry, frost-free, wellventilated place with a temperature of nomore than 40°C.
