ZI-HS8PTlOG SPlITTER OPERATION7PREHEAT HYDRAULIC OILWhile operating under extremely low tempe-rature, keep the log splitter running under noload for 15 minutes to preheat the hydraulicoil.CHECK 2-HAND OPERATION FUNCTIONBefore initial operation, check to be sure thetwo-handed operation is properly functioningby following steps::: Lower both control levers, splittingwedge lowers to approx 5cm abovethe take above the highest tableposition.:: Release either of the levers, splittingwedge should remains in the originalposition.:: Release both levers, the ram shouldrise to the highest positionautomatically.SET WEDGE RAM STROKEBefore initial operation, check to be sure thetwo-handed operation is properly functioningby following steps:CHECK ONCE AGAIN THAT THE OIL TANK CO-VER SCREW IS LOOSENED (SEE PICTURE J)AND AIR CAN CIRCULATE! FAILURE TO DO SODAMAGES THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM ANDREN-DERS WARRANTY CLAIMS NULL AND VOID!:: Move splitting wedge to desiredposition. The upper position of the ramwedge travel should be about 3~5cmover the logs to be split.:: Release a control lever or switch offmotor.:: See picture L. Release the Setscrew(A) with L key.Raise Adjusting Rod (B) until adjustingrod (B) is started to be stopped by thespring inside. Tighten the Setscrew(A).LOG SPLITTINGPlace the log onto the splitter base / supporttable vertically and sitting flat on it. Be surethe wedge and base/table will contact the logsquarely on the ends. Never attempt to split alog at an angle.Adjust the Log Holders (A) according to thediameter of the log to obtain most comfortableControl Levers angle. See picture M.See picture N: Hold the log with clamping bra-ckets closely in the control lever guards. lowerlevers to start the splitting. Releasing eitherlever stops the motion of the splitting wedge.Releasing both handles to return the splittingwedge to the upper position.Accumulated split wood and wood chipscan create a hazardous work environ-ment. Never continue to work in a clut-tered work area which may cause you toslip, trip or fall.STACK THE MATERIALStack as you work. This will provide a saferwork area, by keeping it uncluttered, and avo-id the danger of tripmAINTENANCE8REPLACING HYDRAULIC OILThe hydraulic system is a closed system withoil tank, oil pump and control valve. Check oillevel regularly with dipstick. Low oil levels candamage the oil pump. Oil Level should mea-sure approx. 1 ~ 2 cm lower than the uppersurface of the oil tank. The oil should be com-pletely changed once a year.:: Make sure moving parts stops and thelog splitter is unplugged.:: Make sure that no dirt or debris findsits way into the oil tank:: Collect used oil and recycle.:: Following an oil change, activate thelog splitter a few times withoutactually splitting.Following hydraulic oils or equivalent are re-commend for the log splitter’s hydraulic trans-mission system:SHELL Tellus 22MOBIL DTE 11ARAL Vitam GF 22BP Energol HLP-HM 22Please maintain your log splitter well and ona a regu-lar basis. Insufficient maintenance shortens your logsplitters lifespan decisively.Repairs have to be carried out by qualified technici-ans only. If a part needs to be exchanged, use origi-nal ZIPPER parts only!EN
